Understanding Slavery is a national education programme, developed by the National Maritime Museum and four other UK museums, to promote and support the teaching of the transatlantic slave trade in schools and communities. It's designed to feel very different from other educational sites for school and teachers, to provide wider appeal and build audiences from a wider educational community. Teachers are busy and have precise needs to support teaching and learning, the site aims to be highly functional, intuitive and easy to navigate whilst providing a source of inspiration.
